Is the “HUSTLE” culture dead?
If you employ people, you will know all about “the great resignation”
& all you probably want to know is WHEN WILL IT END!
& HOW DO I ATTRACT PEOPLE TO MY BUSINESS????
(This is part 1..in part 2 I will talk about what NOT to do to attract staff!)
🚨Yes, we're at the DEATH OF THE HUSTLE CULTURE but we are at the crossroads &
RISE OF HUMAN CULTURE!🚨
Post pandemic we started to feel the increased pressure of the shifting landscape in our culture
(It was already there…just lying under the surface)
But then came the pandemic
The pandemic was just a mirror 🪞 for people.
A Mirror that meant we could either look into it, with a sense of YOLO & shift values & change our perspective
Or avoid it altogether!
“Hustle” has been a bit of a HYPE word
It gave us a sense of validation for “working hard”
and if you're doubting it...You can see the change when #KimK was highly criticised for her hustle mentality
Hustle culture also has another meaning -“burnout”(And if anything the pandemic showed us we were tired of hustling)
We were awakened...we didn't just want to work, we know we're here for a purpose!
Because we are human beings NOT DOINGS!!!!!!
& the new generation understands that concept very well!
(that it’s not a “this or that” they can have personal and professional life)
The “working” environment is changing (only 20% globally are engaged at work)
Mental health is on the rise
And giving someone a “job” is not enough anymore
They choose their mental health before material success
(And is that a bad thing)
As owners, we are highly triggered by this.
Our focus has been on money(raising prices/inflation/media scarcity) and not necessarily on culture
But MONEY IS A BY-PRODUCT OF GOOD CULTURE
WHERE TO?
The “hustle culture” won’t work in 2023 because fundamentally our lives & values around working have changed.
So as leaders, we must change our strategy & perspective
For our businesses, we must build more support and structures around mental health and wellbeing
WE MUST PRIORITISE THE FUTURE OF HUMAN CULTURE
This may look like more shared values, common purposes, role autonomy
It may include more soft skill self-development & mindset 🧠training, human behaviour, wellness tools, mediative & movement practices
🧘♀️🫀🙏
Creating more support connections, buddy systems 👯♀️, team/ creativity days 💃🎨 and a conscious leadership approach
